For as long as I can remember I’ve felt like I was born in the wrong era. Always preferring to dress more classically, this has transferred to how I’ve chosen to style our country cottage since we bought it in early 2022. Growing up going to yard sales and thrift stores with my mother and grandmother, I’ve developed a keen eye for vintage pieces, good prices, and a solid vision for the feelings I want my home to evoke.
For years I’ve heard, “Oh, my dad loves that band” and “I think my grandma had something like this in her house”, but these are the highest compliments I could receive. The feelings of comfort, safety, and warmth when you went to your grandparents for the weekend is how I want people to feel when they come into my home. Generations before us knew how to host and homemake to the highest standard, and something I’m now striving toward myself.
Through the years, I’ve come to realise that instead of being born in the wrong era, perhaps I’m here to help keep up traditions of gone-by eras and to champion an old-school love for homemaking. This space will be one to full of my own musings, cosy corners of our home, recipes new and old, and my thrift finds along the way.
I’m glad you’re here; this is Little Grey Log Cabin.
